Dance is defined to be the rhythmic movement of the body. In every places in every country, even the indigenous people dance. Here are some more facts about the ancient history of dance.

Ancient Egypt

During the old Egypt, the land were filled by the flood from the Nile River.When it dries out, the soil became fertile. This will be the reason crops will be able to grow. This is the reason why the people performs a drama to honor the god Osiris responsible. They believed that the death and the rising of this great god has to do something with the rising and falling of the body of water that gives them food to eat. As the population grew, they became more specific with their worship. They made dances and they even call it the Dance of Stars.

Ancient Greece

The young children of the early age were taught to dance. The reason why is that the sole act of dancing will provide a person with with harmony of the mind and even the body. They were also taught because they will be the one dancing during family reunions and religious ceremonies. A Greek poet named Homer was able to record of how happy these children danced before.

Ancient Rome

Romans adopted a lot of things from the Greeks. One of which are their dances. Roman women danced to the statue of Cybele to honor her, the goddess of fertility. Even slaves do battle dances. Sometimes, they pay performers. They also dance during funerals. Even the Roman warriors dance to be able to win battles. Everyone during that time was a great dancer.

Today, there a lot of kinds of dances like traditional, ethnic, acrobatic, ballet, lyrical, disco dancing, modern dancing, ballroom dancing, classical, hip-hop, pop and there are many more genres.

The History of Pi

Pi is the sixteenth letter in the Greek Alphabet (π). In math, it is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. It has a value of 3.14159265358979323846… and the numbers go on without repeating. Translated to a fraction, it’s approximately 22/7. How did this important mathematical symbol originated?

Pi has been an alive concept as long as 4, 000 years ago by the Babylonians. They made it by calculating the area of the circle by getting 3 times the square of its radius.

But then, during 287-212 BC, it was first calculated by Archimedes from Syracuse. We all know that he is among the most prominent mathematicians in the history of the ancient civilizations. He was able to get the approximate area of a rectangle by using the Pythagorean Theorem which allows him to find the surface areas of the two basic polygons, the one inside the circle and the one circumscribed. He then proved that pi is between the numbers of 3 1/7 and 3 10/71.

It was also mentioned in the Bible:

And he made a molten sea, ten cubits from the one brim to the other: it was round all about, and his height was five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it about. (I Kings 7, 23)

He made the Sea of cast metal, circular in shape, measuring ten cubits from rim to rim and five cubits high. It took a line of thirty cubits to measure around it. ( II Chronicles 4:2)

However, their value was 3, not exactly the exact number.

Nobody really knows who had the idea. But all over the world, it was popular even in Ancient China by an early Chinese Mathematician named Zhu Chongzhi who lived between AD 429-500. However, the most accurate one during the computer age was  D. F. Ferguson. However, the word Pi is not only popular with math but also on some other aspects like the movie called the Life of Pi.

About Winnie-the-Pooh and Friends

Winnie-the-Pooh, or also known as Pooh Bear, was created and first written by A. A. Milne in 1926. It became a very successful children’s story and series of all time but after a close examination by group of experts, these turned out to be stories of seriously troubled individuals. This means that each character of the Winnie-the-Pooh collection of stories portray a different kind of disorder. The first and main character, who is Pooh, has an ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. He shows careless and indifferent behavior towards others. He also has Impulsivity with Obsessive Fixations. He is so obsessed with honey that he risks his and his friend’s life just to get it. Pooh also really likes to count a lot and that means he has an OCD or Obsessive-compulsive Disorder. Piglet has a Generalized Anxiety Disorder because he worries a lot and he is very anxious which explains why he stutters most of the time. Owl has Dyslexia. Although he is the most intelligent character, he still has a learning disorder such as spelling words wrong and reading with difficulties. Just like Pooh, Tigger also has ADHD. He is very hyper and thoughtless that he always gets into trouble. Kanga is an overprotective mother to her son, Roo, and it shows that she has a Social Anxiety Disorder because she decides everything what her son does and she doesn’t want her son to make mistakes. Rabbit also has OCD like Pooh because he wants everything to be well organized. Eeyore is always sad and lonely and this implies that he has a Depressive Disorder. Lastly, Christopher Robin has Schizophrenia. It means that of his animal friends are just products of his own imagination and because each of the characters has a disorder, these disorders could represent feelings within his own self.

How To Make an Essay

Writing an essay is always essential in school. However, every kid has troubles on how to write an essay that will create an impact that will give them an A+. Don’t worry, here are some tips I would like to share for you to be able to do your writing homework.

Researching

Before you get your pen and paper, you need to know what your topic will be about. You can get sources from the books in the library or legitimate ones in the internet. If your essay is about people, you can also conduct interviews from people. Note that Wikipedia is not always a suitable source. Check their references after the article. When you are taking notes, make it really detailed so you can keep track of it later. It will be better if you search for factual information rather than opinionated.

Picking Your Thesis Statement

Every essay has a thesis statement. This is not your topic nor your title. It is the summation of the ideas that will be found in the essay. It should not be too narrow nor too broad. You can do this by brainstorming your own ideas. You can list them down if you want.

Making Your Essay

After you’ve done everything above, you can now write your essay. But wait! Not the paragraph kind but the outline. The outline consists your A. Title, B. Introduction where it includes your 1. background and 2. thesis statement at the last part of the sentence, C. Body which consists your 1. First Major Category 2. Second Major Category and the list goes on, last but not the least is the D. conclusion which includes your 1. review and b. the answer, solution or final option. After you’ve filled out these things, let others read and criticize it. If there are no more errors, you can write them down into an essay form.

What You Need

Obviously, you need the equipment to be able to record your music video. You can use any camera( or camcorder) as long as it is clear. If you want to edit it, make sure you don’t just use the Windows Live Movie Maker. There are a lot of applications you can find online. Always remember your budget. If you have zero, you can just borrow from your parents, teachers or your neighbors. Just make sure you return it to them on time with no damage or whatsoever. Lighting is also important. You will need additional light when you are in a dim location. Other things you need includes spare batteries, tripod, camera case, external microphone, and spare memory card.

Yes, even though your characters are just dancing, you still need to have an organized plan on how to portray it. For example, the different locations for each part and etc.

The animal kingdom is very diverse. There are a lot of kinds from beautiful, unique, gigantic, tiniest, most brilliant, interesting, intelligent and Dangerous. Therefore, if you happen to see one, please avoid it at all cost but don’t kill it if it’s unnecessary. They are still living creatures.

Box Jellyfish

From the number of kinds of box jellyfish, there is no exception to how all of them can be dangerous. It has a venom which can kill a person in just a matter of time. Every year, 2-3 million die because of it. Mosquitoes suck in blood. They usually are many during rainy seasons where everything is still and wet from unused tires and uncovered containers where they can breed and lay their eggs to a new set of deadly mosquitoes that will probably hit 700 million people around the world. There isn’t only one North Pole

Yes, you read that right, there are actually two North Pole, not like the South Pole which has only one. Surprised? There are actually two definitions of North Pole. One is that it is the magnetic pole which changes relatively with the Earth’s crust. The other interpretation is the north terrestrial pole which doesn’t change at all but it has a fixed location which is on top of the world.

Does Internet Make Children Smarter?

As of today, there are 1 billion websites online and every second, it is growing. We learn different things from these websites from education, entertainment, sports and etc. But does the internet make children smarter because of this easy access to knowledge?

One of the obvious answer is that we learn more using the internet. Even though a student doesn’t go to school, if he or she has the outline of how students learn, then they will be able to using the internet. There are actually a lot of concepts they can choose in the internet that they can choose from. The information makes it easier for thinking but it doesn’t make us not to think anymore. Of course, we think to understand them. Important books from philosophers, prodigies and many other genius people of time are now available online by pdf or even Google books. You don’t need to pay to learn these things if you have the connection to internet. There are also researches that students improved their vocabulary, visual learning and their IQ is increased.

Although, there are also people that contradict this idea. More information doesn’t mean that these children are smarter. Instead, they’re just making them lazier. Because information is being spoon fed, the children loses the ability to analyze and find answers for themselves, which is also an important aspect to be learned. Also, most children are not actually using the internet to seek for knowledge but to play video games the whole day.

Parents always have roles for the child’s intelligence development. They are capable of controlling what their children can access, which they can only limit to educational purposes. It’s always better to put their computers in a common area where their parents can always monitor them. Or better, you can access the internet together and help them understand more.
